About

One Heritage Acres, Two Properties

Heritage Acres operates from two properties: Heritage Acres in Currumbin Valley, QLD, and Hopeful Ranch in Peelwood, NSW.

Currumbin Valley is the original property, home to the subtropical collection, Dragon Trees, Grass Trees, Ponytail Palms, Phoenix Rupicola, Livistona palms, Rhapis and Macrozamia, each grown on-site for decades before it's ready to move.

Enquire with our team and you'll be dealing directly with the people who grow the trees.

History

A Working History

"Currumbin" is a Yugambeh word recorded to mean "place of tall trees", the name the valley carried long before the first Dragon Tree went into the ground here.

Graham Mitchell planted the original Dragon Trees on the property by hand. The tree grown from that planting, known today as The Mitchell, stands as the collection's oldest and grandest specimen, the benchmark the rest are measured against. The Tonkin family farmed this valley as banana growers before that, and the ground at 1706 Currumbin Creek Rd carries the name of the Spittal family, honoured today in the property's Macrozamia collection.

Named specimens across the collection, The Mitchell, The Tonkin, The Cougal, The Tomewin, The Boyd, The Freeman and The John, each carry a piece of that history forward. Ask our team about any specimen's name and the story behind it.

Grown on the ground its name comes from.
